BioCarta Expands into European Market
SAN DIEGO, CA - September 1, 2000 - BioCarta announced
today its expansion into Europe with the appointment of Joerg Homfeld, PhD as
President of European Operations and establishment of BioCarta Europe GmbH with
headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. Dr. Homfeld will lead a team of experienced
life science professionals dedicated to serving the needs of the European life
science community.
Previously responsible for managing the German subsidiary of medical research
and diagnosis products and systems company, DAKO, Joerg Homfeld, PhD brings
European entrepreneurial expertise and exceptional industry knowledge of the
European market to BioCarta. Prior to joining DAKO, Dr. Homfeld spearheaded
the establishment of the PharMingen Europe organization and its expansion
throughout Europe with offices in all major regions, employing over 20
marketing and sales professionals. Dr. Homfeld holds a PhD in Immunology
from the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg, Germany. His role
will be to establish BioCarta Europe GmbH as preferred partner for researchers
in the European life science community.
Brad Kraft, Chief Executive Officer of BioCarta, commented: "Europe is a key

BioCarta expects to employ 4 in the European headquarters office in Hamburg,
Germany by the year-end and open a new branch office in the United Kingdom in
